Came across this cool campaign to promote universal heatlth care by US NGO, The Opportunity Agenda. The homepage contains a Google Maps Mashup showing hospitals in New York City in 1985, 1995 and 2005, with race and income demographics for each neighbourhood. It shows that by 2005, many hospitals had shut, especially in poorer areas. Integrating Google Maps with the figures in this way really is a very direct and effective way of bringing the message home.
As well as this feature, the site includes plenty of other good, standard eCampaign 2.0 fare, like eCards so that people may write to their “representative”, a forum (split by theme then numbers of topics and comments), and a resources section including relevant videos (YouTube) and podcasts.
So an all round well-done and pat on the back to the folks over at The Opportunity Agenda.
