Annual influenza occurs during autumn and winter affecting roughly 10% of the population. The flu is not just a cold. According to WHO, influenza can cause severe illness, especially for people at high risk, like adults over 65. For the elderly, not only is it tougher to suffer through, but the flu can also lead to severe complications.
That is why we created the Influenza Hub, a platform, sponsored by WMA, Mylan and IFPMA, which addresses the various ways prevention can help to reduce the chance to get influenza. “Don’t let the flu bug you” is the foundation on which we engage with a senior target audience on our hub and social media. Our research shows that more and more people of this age group are present on Facebook and that it is possible to reach them there. The platform and the Facebook pages are trilingual (in German, French and English) to cover most of Western Europe. Engagement turns out to be remarkably high.
