Your next immersive experiences are just a set of VR goggles away.
With mixed reality slowly defining and looming into the zeitgeist of this decade, the technology itself has soared to astronomical heights.
What is it?
Mixed reality, or MR in short, is a simulated experience brought about by technological apparatuses to immerse the user fully in a virtual world while fully integrating and merging the virtual with the real world. This nexus produces new environments and visualisations where physical and digital objects coexist and interact with one another seamlessly.
For more than three decades, we’ve seen the development and growth of VR technology to uncharted territory: some of the best video games now require goggles, some of the world’s most expensive art is only accessible through the metaverse, and business meetings can be attended virtually as if you were there. Now imagine combining that digital world with the world around you.
Today, sophisticated MR technologies are finding some use in various aspects of our daily lives. Imagine being a surgeon and operating on someone far away with virtual tools you can access with your VR headset or having your favourite fictional characters interacting with you in the comfort of your home. The possibilities are endless.
With COVID-19 having isolated everyone in the planet, MR is a gateway for us to also interact with one another in various innovative ways. For more information, Microsoft published a very informative online primer on the topic.
ZN goes VR
ZN could not be called a bonafide digital agency if we were not excited about MR and the metaverse. You can learn more on what VR and the metaverse can bring by listening to our #ZNLive podcast.
We put our belief in MR into practice by creating a metaverse venue for our 2022 #EUinfluencer event. This venue served as a digital hub for our network to interact and start important conversations with the EU’s top online influencers and also to display our NFTs that were sold to support the Ukrainian people.
ZN’s ambition does not stop there. Alongside the #EUinfluencer hub, we designed a digital auditorium and an exact copy of our Place Flagey office to be the digital venue of our VR X-MAS party.
EUSPA goes VR
Recently, NASA launched Artemis I to a 25.5 day journey around the moon and back to Earth. Meanwhile in Europe, ZN is partnering with the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) to be #OneStepAhead as we combine our passions for space and mixed reality.
We will help EUSPA create a portal that will serve as an entry point for all the activities they have in store and as a hub for their users.
To complement this portal, we’ll also be developing an interactive VR application that will help showcase EUSPA activities in a very illustrative and user-friendly way. This will help the space agency tread their first steps into the metaverse.
We at ZN envision to develop this project further into a collaborative and interactive platform for EUSPA and we are very excited to venture into space and explore the multitude of possibilities VR can bring into the space industry.
