Hugh Barton-Smith, Creative Consultant

Hugh Barton-Smith, Creative Consultant, was the first man to be thrown out of a woman’s college at Oxford for academic reasons, but after finally obtaining a degree in French and Theatre from London he spent seventeen years in corporate communication and direct marketing in Paris. Hugh moved to Brussels in 2004 to join the European Commission for five years as a senior communicator at DG Enterprise and Industry, followed by 18 months as a research analyst in the European Parliament Library. As a consultant, he writes reports up to several thousand words and slogans of just a few, but is mostly known for his irrepressible humour in conversations about European politics with his many distinguished friends on Twitter.
