As a creative web designer at ZN, I engage in projects with a very wide range of clients. In fact, in the production department, we literally are on board with every project that comes through these doors. But not only do I fill my days designing, I have now been putting in extracurricular hours on a personal project – MOOD.
MOOD is a magazine about music and food. For us (myself and the other co-founder, Mario Villar), not many things can beat a good record and a delicious meal – maybe a well-written story or a gorgeous photo. Well, all that is in MOOD. We chose to publish our first issue online considering costs and taking into account that we had no idea how people were going to react to our idea. In our heads, a pretty magazine about music and food is fantastic. But what if people didn’t feel the same way? Well, it turned out many did.
Our first issue has almost 5,500 impressions on issuu.com and feedback has been very, very positive. With this encouragement and support, we decided to pursue putting the magazine into its originally intended form – on paper.
A no-ads, book-feeling magazine that you can touch, smell, collect…
Right now, we are working on the second issue of MOOD, where we travel to Japan to show you some great music and gastronomic projects, we take a look at the food truck phenomenon in the U.S., investigate an alternative to the decline of the music industry, and much more.
Our ambition is to sell issue 2 in both paper and digital formats – and this is why we have started a Kickstarter project. If you aren't familiar with Kickstarter, it is a crowdfunding platform for creative ideas. It is an all-or-nothing system, meaning that once you have launched your project and specified your monetary goal, you must reach the goal (or surpass it) to get the funds.
So far we have received $3,615 of our $5,000 goal and have 14 days to go. If we reach our goal, we will be able to print and sell the magazine all around the world!
If you are interested in this project, take a look at our Kickstarter page. If you back us for $25 you will get the printed magazine delivered to your doorstep with no extra shipping costs! There are also some other goodies to sweeten the pot!
