I once read in a study the word ‘googlearchy’, defining that the power of information was now defined and measure by the amount of hyperlinks that connect to your site/blog.  The more connected you are, the more power you have.  The question of the power of googlearchy is now being studied in academic papers from biology to mathematics to physics (see this one).

I think the future of information will be based on how hyperconnected it is and our ability at understanding these new fluid networks.  It is both a reflection of the way we think (the networks in the brain) and an entirely new network, that we need to start understanding.  The funny thing is that whether or not we understand the way it is evolving it is already shaping our lifes and thought patterns.
